Chez Reavie Wins Travelers Championship

CHEZ HELD STRONG

WINNER

Chez Reavie -17

His last victory came eleven years ago when he was a rookie. Going into the 15th hole Keegan Bradley had made things interesting by moving one shot shy of Chez. This did not seem to rattle the golfer whom Justin Rose said “He’s tough as nails.” Going into the 17th tee Keegan remained one behind Chez, his ensuing tee shot found the left fairway bunker while Chez was on the left side of the fairway. Keegan hit is second shot over the green on this par 4, while he did get his third shot on the green, he proceeded to three-putt for a double bogey. In the meantime Chez hit his second shot to within 14 feet of the hole and finished the hole with only his second birdie of the day. The tournament was all but over after the three shot swing on the 17th hole. Chez Reavie was able to finish with a par on 18 with a -17 and four shots clear of Keegan Bradley and Zack Sucher to win his second PGA Tour event.

TOP FIVE

-17 Chez Reavie 1

-13 Zack Sucher T2

-13 Keegan Bradley T2

-12 Vaughn Taylor 4

-11 Paul Casey T5

-11 Joaquin Niemann T5

-11 Kevin Tway T5

While Zack Sucher was not able to hold on to his lead yesterday nor make a run that would put him close to Chez Reavie, he did make one heck of a run on the back nine. Going into the back nine he was sitting two over for the day and then he made a fantastic run on the back nine with five birdies and three bogies. Because of this run Zack finished the tournament at -13 and T2. This is huge as he is in need of 347 FedEx points to gain his full PGA status back. His T2 added 245 points to his 25 point total he had going into the event. In Zack’s own words: “It changes the rest of our year, it changes our plans and we have a lot of work to do to figure what else we have to do now.”
