Race For 2nd

So much for moving day.

Well at least at the top of the leaderboard. After yet another day of leading the group with greens in regulation, Brooks Koepka still leads by seven. Yet another PGA Championship record, after 54 holes. With all the movement behind him a golf nerd like me has plenty to be excited about.

Only 20% of the field shot under par today. There were plenty of players falling, including Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth who both shot +2 today. Replacing them at -5 for the tournament is Harold Varner III, Jazz Janewattananond, Luke List, and Dustin Johnson. All of whom shot under par, including Harold and Jazz who tied for the low rounds of the day at -3.

The real winner today: Bethpage Black. Bethpage showed some of its U.S. Open teeth today. The weather was a little warmer and the wind was blowing today. I watched Dustin Johnson hit a 7 iron on the 207 yard par 3, 17 over the green, miscalculation of the wind. Adam Scott came up short with an 8 iron in the very next group because the wind had shifted on the players.

I have full faith that Brooks will be able to finish this tomorrow, so the real question is: Who will come in 2nd place?
